Dame Malvina invites you to "share the dream"
"As a young singer I greatly appreciated all the assistance given to me to follow my dream of becoming an opera star. I now continue my dream by performing with our young and talented New Zealanders, teaching and advising them how to achieve their dream. I hope you too will help me."
The Dame Malvina Major Foundation was established in 1991. The main aims are:
- To provide educational and training opportunities specifically designed to assist and develop the skills of young New Zealanders associated with the performing arts,
- To support young New Zealanders of outstanding ability and real development potential in preparing for professional careers.
By offering performance experience with Dame Malvina and other experienced performers and practitioners in New Zealand, the Foundation provides a comprehensive form of advanced training for the greatest number of potential young New Zealand stars.

How are the funds raised?
Corporate and private sponsors and donors give support and financial assistance. They recognise the need for sustained long term development of young, talented and aspiring performing artists, and the benefits to New Zealand of nurturing and supporting them.
Bequests and pledges are of increasing importance and Dame Malvina greatly appreciates bequests received in recent years enabling the Foundation to increase activities and grants.
Regional committees throughout New Zealand focus on raising funds and giving profile to the Foundation within their local communities. The Foundation is working towards increasing the number of these committees.
