Sir Howard Morrison Vocal Scholarship
Mr Owen Glenn in collaboration with Dame Malvina Major announced that The Glenn Family Trust has endowed a vocal performance scholarship in recognition of Sir Howard Morrison's unique talent.
The scholarship will be administered by The Dame Malvina Major Foundation and will be awarded annually to a New Zealand performer of exceptional potential aged between 16 and 32 years of age. Dame Malvina will provide private tuition to the recipient and some travel and accommodation costs should these be required.
Dame Malvina said: "I really want to do this - to choose talented people that I feel have the ability to make a career out of singing and performance as Sir Howard Morrison and I have done."

Eligibility:
- Applicants must have exceptional talent and have the potential to develop a career in vocal performance
- Open to applicants who are New Zealand citizens
- Minimum age 16 years, maximum age 32 years
Scholarship to be awarded annually:
- up to 30 hours of personal vocal tuition from Dame Malvina Major through the year
- as the lessons will take place mainly in Christchurch, some accommodation and travel expenses will be available
- some financial assistance may be available to the recipient to help with activities which are seen to being related to the success of the scholarship recipient e.g related tuition fees (languages, personal presentation, deportment) or costs associated with a competition
Administration:
This Scholarship will be administered by The Dame Malvina Major Foundation.Applications to include:
- One - two page personal statement outlining how this scholarship will help you achieve your career in vocal performing music
- Home address, all contact details and date of birth
- CV and photo
- Audio recording, CD, tape or DVD
- Written support from two referees preferably practitioners in the arts or established artists / teachers

Selection:
The successful applicant will be selected from a short list by a panel including:
- Dame Malvina Major
- Members appointed by Sir Howard Morrison's Family
- Members appointed by The Dame Malvina Major Foundation
The successful applicant will be notified by mid April.
